Agrofredina Company Ltd started business operations as a sole proprietorship legally registered in 2017 and converted to a limited liability company in 2021. It has been into the aggregation of soybeans, maize, sheanut, Sesame seed, Cashew nut, Rice bran, and Shea cake and the operation of an out-grower scheme. The business started with 50 smallholder farmers and has grown its smallholder farmer out-growers to 700 as of the 2022 farming season, engaging predominantly in soybean and Maize cultivation. It supports these smallholder farmers with ploughing services and inputs such as fertilizer and agrochemicals on credit at the start of the farming season. Repayment is in kind after harvest, and the smallholder farmers with agronomic training covering pre- and post-harvest management. To provide access to the market, Agrofredina aggregates from its 700 smallholder farmers and over 1000 other smallholder farmers.
In addition to its network of smallholder farmers, Agrofredina Company Ltd currently engages over 350 women in collecting shea nuts and processing of same. The operational areas of Agrofredina cover Nanton, Karaga, Gusheggu, Saboba, Saveligu, Tolon, Nalerigu, Yendi, Sissala East, and Tamale districts of the Northern, North East, and Upper West Regions of Ghana. Agrofredina currently employs 160 staff, of which 24 are permanent, and the remaining 136 are casual staff.
